18 September - Old Rats Valley and Chalk Hills

Day event
Walk Coordinators: Ian Bovill and Ulrike Groiss
Meet: 9:00AM at Car park behind Pambula shops (behind the PO, access via
Merimbola St). Call Ian if you're closer to Mt Darragh Road than this so we can
 arrange to meet..
Grade: Easy
Distance: 13 km
Description: Exploring the old fire trails in the Yurammie State Forest.
Walking partly on new fire trails, partly on mildly overgrown forest tracks and
few km of dirt. Some hills, but basically easy walking.
Road is well graded, but rocky, so vehicles should handle rocky conditions.
We'll pool cars at the meeting point.

2017 Blue Mountains walk update

Blue Mts 2017 Update Jeff has 11 'probables' at this early stage (+ a few 'possibles' ) and will likely make a provisional booking with Federation Gardens in Blackheath early in September for 16.
General preference seems to be 4 to a cabin. Sun to Thursday: March 12 - 16 (or 19 - 23 if that presents problems). A little earlier than originally proposed - more daylight hours and a bit warmer.
Jeff will need to be given your availability for both weeks, and will confirm once all responses are in. Deposit will be $70 per-person, the remainder due on arrival in Blackheath. The number of 'couples' and 'singles' will determine the specific types of cabin booked. If anyone else is interested can they contact Jeff by email jeffintransit@yahoo.com.au or mobile (preferably evenings 0428 447 591).
There has been some feedback that the walks C,D and E might be better graded 'moderate-hard'. All three have fairly long descents & ascents, but are on decent tracks, and it won't be necessary to rush. Jeff's assessment is based on how knackered in comparison he has felt following various BVBW day walks. Jeff will book at least as many cabins as required, preferably as close together as possible.
Once the booking has been made, anyone else wishing to come on the walks may have to organise their own accommodation.  No need to book for the camping weekends if you just wish to do one of those.

4 September - Merimbula Coast

Day event
Walk Coordinators: Lyn Evans and Phillip Kendall
Meet: 9:30AM at Short Point car park (upper level), Merimbula
Grade: Easy/Moderate
Distance: 10 km
Description: Grade: Easy with a couple of moderate sections
Terrain: Beaches, walking trails plus a little off track walking on lake edge
and rocky coast
Celebrate the start of spring with a circular walk, taking in the lesser known
and most spectacular parts of the coastline surrounding Merimbula. Mostly easy
walking, with an option to bypass the harder coastal section for those who are
not keen on walking on rock platforms and scrambling over rocks.
